atwellpub“The video tests a cerium-doped neodymium YAG laser rod that was advertised as 30–50% more efficient than a conventional Nd:YAG rod. Cerium improves efficiency by absorbing otherwise wasted blue/UV light from the flash lamp and transferring that energy to the neodymium ions, while also helping protect the crystal from UV-related degradation. Academic research cited in the video reports roughly a 28% output increase, and related work has used the material in record-setting solar-pumped lasers.”
