Astro vs WordPress Speed Test: 1.58 s vs 2.10 s on Mobile

GBTI NetworkSummary
Andrew Ryan rebuilt his optimized WordPress homepage in Astro and tested both versions on the same server, CDN, design, and measurement setup. Astro was faster, but the gap was considerably smaller than many platform comparisons might suggest.1
Both versions also landed within Google’s “good” LCP range,2 while Astro retained its architectural advantage of shipping no client-side JavaScript unless interactivity is explicitly added.3
The more revealing comparison may not be Astro versus WordPress at all. Ryan also tested a typical page-builder WordPress site, and that result changes the scale of the argument considerably. His full breakdown includes every run, page weight, request counts, global server timings, and where each platform actually makes more sense.
